Sinopse: Logo de 10 anos no cárcere por asasinar o seu amante, Annie volve á súa aldea. Alí atópase coa súa filla Sophie, que está vivindo coa nai do seu amante e que estivo coidando dela. Annie ten que volver aprender como vivir e esquecerse dos demos do pasado. Intenta renovar a súa vida baixo os ollos da súa filla que ten moita curiosidade sobre ela. Sophie tenta renovar o contacto coa súa nai, procura non desesperarse pero non é fácil. O recordo dos actos cometidos e a finalidade da morte é unha gran carga.

Sinopsis: Después de 10 años en la cárcel por haber asesinado a su amante, Annie vuelve a su pueblo. Allí se encuentra con su hija Sophie, que está viviendo con la madre de su amante y que ha estado cuidando de ella. Annie tiene que volver a aprender cómo vivir y olvidarse de los demonios del pasado. Intenta reanudar su vida bajo los ojos de su hija que tiene mucha curiosidad sobre ella. Sophie intenta reanudar el contacto con su madre, intenta no desesperarse pero no es fácil. El recuerdo de los actos cometidos y la finalidad de la muerte es una gran carga.

Synopsis: After 10 years in prison for the murder of her lover, Annie returns to her village. There she finds her daughter, Sophie, living with the dead man’s mother who’s been looking after the girl. Annie has to re-learn how to live and forget the demons of the past. She tries to resume her life under the watchful eye of her daughter who is full of curiosity about her. Sophie tries to renew contact with her mother, tries to keep her from slipping into despair but it isn’t easy; the memory of acts committed and the persistence of the dead are a heavy burden to bear.

Entre 1985 e 1998, Denis Chouinard escribiu, dirixiu e codirixiu seis curtametraxes. A súa primeira longametraxe “Clandestins” codirixida con Nicolas Wadimoff, foi seleccionado en moitos festivais e gañou moitos premios. A súa segunda longametraxe “L’Ange de goudron” foi elixida como película de inauguración no Festival Internacional de Cine de Montreal en 2001 e levou o premio de Mellor Longametraxe Canadense e o Premio Telefilm de Canadá. Esta película tamén gañou premios do xurado no Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín en 2002. Máis tarde,ese mesmo ano, Chouinard dirixiu o documental “Voir Gilles Groulx”. “Délivrez-moi” é a súa terceira longametraxe.

Su segundo largometraje “L’Ange de goudron” fue elegido como película de inaugauración en Festival Internacional de Cine de Montreal en 2001 y se llevó el premio de Mejor Largometraje Canadiense y el Premio Telefilm de Canadá. Esta película también ganó premios del jurado en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Berlín en 2002. Más tarde ese mismo año, Chouinard dirigió el documental “Voir Gilles Groulx”. “Délivrez-moi” es su tercer largometraje.

Between 1985 and 1998, Denis Chouinard wrote, directed and co-directed six short films. His first feature film “Clandestins” co-directed with Nicolas Wadimoff, was selected for many festivals and won many prizes. His second feature “L’Ange de goudron” was chosen as the opening film for the International Film Festival of Montreal in 2001 and took the prize for best Canadian feature film as well as the Telefilm Canada prize. The film also won the prestigious ecumenical jury prize at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2002. Later that year, Chouinard directed the documentary “Voir Gilles Groulx”. “Délivrez-moi” is his third feature film.
