MIL AÑOS DE BUENAS ORACIONES

Sinopse: O Sr. Shi, un viúvo de Pequín, vai visitar á súa única filla, Yilan, aos EE.UU. Yilan acábase de divorciar e el quere axudarlle a recuperarse do trauma. O Sr. Shi está decidido a que Yilan recupere o seu matrimonio e refaga a súa vida, pero a súa filla termina evitándolle cando el se empeña en coñecer as causas do divorcio. Desconcertado, o Sr. Shi aventúrase na cidade e coñece a Madam, unha señora maior que fuxiu da Revolución Iraniana. Ambos inician unha breve amizade que finaliza cando o fillo de Madam envíaa a un asilo. Enfrontado tanto ás revelacións de Madam como á confrontación con Yilan, algo para o que o Sr. Shi non estaba preparado, acabará por aceptar as cousas tal e como son, chegando a comprender, aínda que sexa un pouco, a Yilan.

Enfrentado tanto a las revelaciones de Madam como a la confrontación con Yilan, algo para lo que el Sr. Shi no estaba preparado, acabará por aceptar las cosas tal y como son, llegando a comprender, aunque sea un poco, a Yilan.

Synopsis: Mr. Shi, a widower from Beijing, goes to visit his only daughter, Yilan, in the USA. She has recently divorced and he intends to help her over the trauma. While Mr. Shi is determined that Yilan will recover her marriage and her life, his daughter starts avoiding him when he insists on knowing the reasons for her divorce. Confused, Mr. Shi explores the town and meets Madam, an older woman who fled the Iranian Revolution. They start a brief friendship ending when the woman’s son sends her to a retirement home. Facing revelations from Madam and the confrontation with Yilan, which Mr. Shi has never been prepared to face, he finally accepts things as they are, and reaches a small understanding with Yilan.
