Biografía / Biography:

Andrey Zhidkov. St-Petersburg, Russia. Designer, VFX-artist and now a beginner cartoon-director. Born in Samara, USSR on 27 July 1974. Graduated from Samara State University historical faculty. In Saint-Petersburg he works at cinema industry. He took part as a VFX-artist in many movies such as "Sun" by Alexander Sokurov. (Official programm of Berlinale 2005), “Mongol”, “Polumgla”, etc. In 2009 finished his first animation based on the story by J.-L. Borges “The disk”.

Sinopse:
The cartoon is based on the story by J.L. Borges The Disk telling about some scanty woodcutter visited by a king who had lost his kingdom. The king showed the disk to the woodcutter – opened his hand but the woodcutter saw nothing. Then the king offered him to touch that invisible disk. The woodcutter felt something cold. This disk of Odin and it had only one side. It is the only thing in the world which does not have a reverse side. The woodcutter wanted to have that disk for himself, and offered for it all the gold he had but was refused. Then he killed that king. When the king fell down his hand opened and the woodcutter saw a sparkle in the air. The woodcutter found nothing.
