More than 300 people per screening support OUFF's +CINE

After five months of continuous screenings, +CINE programme, jointly developed by the Ourense Film Festival (OUFF) and the Cineclube Padre Feijóo (Padre Feijóo Film Club) evaluate now the situation: nearly six thousand people came to the cinemas, being 307 the average per film. +CINE, which was created with the aim of following the path of collaboration started in 2011, Un Espazo de Cine (A Film Odyssey), just to become an inescapable appointment on Wednesdays, reached one of its fundamental objectives: to weekly cultivate the loyalty of a public eager for independent films within the commercial circuit with an outstanding rating (with a grade of 4.60 points out of 5 according to the satisfaction survey performed the very last day of activities).

The total number of attendance was 5 829. Per titles, the French film Carnage, directed by Roman Polanski, with 471, and the Iranian Nader and Simin, with 442, were those that registered the better attendance. The latter was, moreover, the best assessed film by the public in surveys (4.47 out of 5), followed by the tragicomedy Little White Lies (4.43) and by the aforementioned Carnage (4.28). The best assessed season as a whole was French March, also being the one that gathered more public: an average of 384 per film followed by the January season, devoted to the award-winning films of the 64th Cannes, with 344.

After the success of the +CINE programme, in which it can be stressed the good understanding between the OUFF and the Film Club, as well as the support from the Concellaría de Cultura (City Department for Culture) and from the Federación de Cineclubes de Galicia (Galician Film Clubs Federation), it is planned to carry on with the film activity promotion. Anyway, this outstanding reception of +CINE makes certain that public from Ourense appreciates a determined wager for quality cinema and even demands explicitly more cinema.

BAIXO AS ESTRELAS
1206_BE_Cartaz_web.jpgSince it was first held, "A film alternative for summer nights" was the philosophy of the Baixo as Estrelas (Underneath the Stars) programme. Four years later, this purpose is already consolidated within the summer's cultural programme and the Friday appointment in San Martiño square is already a classic these days. This week starts a new edition of the Baixo as Estrelas (Uderneath the Stars) programme organised by the Ourense International Film Festival and by the Concellaría de Cultura (City Department for Culture) that, in 2012, will offer a selection of the best short films that have been shown in the festival circuit in Spain during 2010 and 2011.

Short films are likely one of the most appreciated formats by Ourense audience for open-air cinema nights, and are also one of the best opportunities to see the first steps of the most gifted filmmakers. Highly particular exercises in style in order to adapt to short-length filming and narrative tactics whose aim is to create the greatest impact in the lesser period of time. The selection of this summer's programme, in conjunction with distributor Promofest, brings loads of everyday life stories with surprising perspectives, human relationships and, especially, a lot of humour.

The Baixo as Estrelas (Underneath the Stars) programme will take place every Friday of July and August, nine in total, being the last of them a surprise session for the public from Ourense –at 23:00h in San Martiño square. Free attendance.
