Every year, the Ourense International Film Festival presents a selection of the most innovative and challenging feature films, documentaries, animated films short fictions and new media from all over the globe. 

As a working platform for developing independent films and audiovisual works, the Ourense International Film Festival has 3 main objectives:

3 objectives.

1.- To promote for the audience and professionals the most innovative, controversial and challenging films and audiovisual works produced globally that contribute to the mutual understanding among different cultures.

2.- To be the Galician meeting point for Europe, Latin America and the rest of the world, in order to develop co-productions, promote and distribute local and international films and audiovisual works.

3.- To serve as a work platform and debate forum for Galician, European and international professionals looking forward to improve their skills and contacts in international co-production and distribution.

The Festival offers a selection of the most innovative and experimental international cinema, including every year a showcase with the best  films produced in Galicia.

Masterclasses, European professional training and market place

The great impact of the Festival in the media is not only due to the screenings of the competition films, which are presented by their creators, directors, producers and cast. It is also due to the discussion panels, the professional training workshops, co-production meetings and the market place attended by many of the best European / American experts, a space for reflection and  promotion of the audiovisual culture and industry.

New media and avantgarde technologies

The Ourense Film Festival is an active platform for discovering feature films, documentaries, short films and since 2008n also new media, selecting the most challenging and innovative films and audiovisual works made by the new generation of creators that work and experiment  with new technologies.

Ourense, meeting point for cinema and spa

During the Festival, the city of Ourense becomes an international meeting point where the audience of the city and the whole Galicia have the chance to watch quality films not easily available in commercial venues, while professionals take part in debates and workshops organized to improve their work and to discover new ways for  promoting, co-producing an distributing their fims internationally.
