AWARDS 2008
The 13th Ourense Film Festival followed its motto Celebrating Diversity and awarded  with the Calpurnia Grand Prix the German movie Weltstadt. Portuguese The Lovebirds won the "Carlos Velo" Award for Best  Director and the Best Screenplay Award.  Japanese The Crossword Monologues won the Special Jury Award. Jakub Tolak, the British main actor of Outlanders, won the Best Actor Award, whereas the Uruguayan actress Roxana Blanco won the Best Actress Award for her role in Kill Them All.

Tribute to the Cuban director well known for films such as "Lucía", who passed away in October 2008. Humberto Solás was the co-founder of the ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinema) and founder of the Festival de Cine Pobre in Gibara, Cuba.
