The journey back to his origins undertaken by Alberto, an employee in a mansion, allows us to enter Dominican Republic’s countryside, a setting that is governed by religious exaltation. Amid rituals close to exorcism, the camera seems to identify with the apprehension felt by the protagonist, who questions his faith in the middle of the mourning for his murdered father. After Santa Teresa y otras historias (2015), De los Santos blends again documentary and crime fiction in order to create an impressionist national portrait in which colour make its way between black and white, while class stratification and corruption they make their appearance.
