A familiar and loving journey traversed by cultural syncretism: mother and daughter prepare a chocolate cake while talking in Korean, the father sets the fire for the barbecue and reads a newspaper of the community. Each of these moments are part of the film’s universe, including tradition, family expectations, the role of women in the community, identity, nationality and belonging, without going too deep in any of them. The result is a small, loving, endearing film, as if we approached the intimacy of this family looking at their photos. And it is this condition that makes feelings appear unexpectedly as a deep and visceral manifestation. Part of its charm lies in that honesty that at the same time undresses the artifice and puts the characters in the place of who they are: people.
