As in Pascale Ferran’s first feature, the characters of Trinta lumes must manage their “little arrangements with the dead”; actually much more than that. The community in O Courel portrayed by Diana Toucedo in her film lives directly with the dead, whose presence is undeniable in the mountains, in cemeteries, in abandoned villages, in the myths with which the inhabitants are nourished from their childhood. The environment of the Day of the Dead breaks all barriers between the living and the dead, but especially between fiction and documentary.

Diana Toucedo
Galician filmmaker and editor residing in Barcelona. Among her editing work stand out the documentary feature film La noche que no acaba by Isaki Lacuesta, the animated film Chico y Rita by Fernando Trueba, and O quinto evanxeo de Gaspar Hauser by Alberto Gracia. In addition to her work in cinema, Diana Toucedo teaches Audiovisual Editiing at the IDEC / Pompeu Fabra University, the Autonomous University of Barcelona and ESCAC.
